It seems like everyone is still reeling from the Volkswagen emissions scandal – especially the automaker. Recent reports suggest the company will be paying out an average of $5,000 to owners as just one part of a (very expensive) settlement to make up for the hundreds of thousands of vehicles they sold under false pretenses of meeting emissions standards. They are also still looking to pay back the country for the cleanup required from their incorrect statements on expected emissions from their vehicles, and it won’t be a cheap deal for VW.
